I recently got an iPod and realized the importance of having well tagged MP3s. I have gigs of music and I just can’t go and edit all the files separately. Well, I have been looking at quite a few options lately for tagging mp3 songs.
MediaMonkey 2.4.2 is mainly a mp3 management software with integrated mp3 player. It uses Amazon’s various sites to get more information on the songs but I don’t think it works that well.
AudioGrail (formerly K-MP3) is a product of KC Softwares and is another application that can be used to get tag information. I didn’t like the interface as it wasn’t too user friendly. It uses FreeDB to automatically identify mp3 tags and update them. It’s a very slow and cumbersome process and I would recommend it as one of the last choices.
CATRaxx 6.22.02 is another software for MP3 Management. It works for automatic tag updation only is you already have the Audio CDs with you. It accesses the CDDB and gets the file information. It was totally useless to me as I only have mp3s.
You also have Helium Music Manager 2005, which can be used for batch processing of the MP3s. It gives a lot of options to edit the tags using the filename as a source of information. Also, one can download plugins to query CDDB, FreeDB and Amazon databases to get more information on tags. It’s a good application to maintain loads of music.
The best of the lot is MusicMatch Jukebox Plus. The basic version doesn’t have the feature of automatic tagging from internet. Plus version has a feature called Super Tagging. Using this, all one has to do is select a set of songs and set them to be super tagged. The software then prepares a list of songs and their information to query the online database and then retrieves the information. You then get to decide what songs get the updated information and which ones don’t. This tool also has its short-comings. When a lot of songs are selected for super tagging at same time, some of the songs don’t get the updated information. Also, the existing information in the files should be correct otherwise it is not able to match the data and can not retrieve tagging information. Also, if you just want to tag songs using filename and local information, it has an interface that matches that of the Helium Music Manager.
All said and done, to me MusicMatch Jukebox Plus is a clear winner over others when it comes to tagging the MP3 that you have on your disks.
More than for others, I am putting this here for my own reference.

I just needed to get in touch with someone over then phone to get a replacement for an item that I had ordered, and I was just not able to find the contact number on Amazon.com website. They provide support mainly through webpages and emails and though that’s good (I prefer it), it’s not always the best way.
Anyways, I just googled for the number and came across this article on slate. Read it…. it goes to show how much Amazon is doing just to avoid paying for customer support over phone.
The best role that I have seen Arshad Warsi in. He plays a honest cop who gets transfered to Lucknow, UP at a time when one of the gangs is trying to takeover all the market. The movie deals with a lot of issues related to the underworld and police in north India. I have seen quite a few movies before, but they were all about the underworld in Mumbai. This movie is different in two ways; it’s set in Uttar Pradesh and it talks more from the point of view of the cops.
Two things that were wrong (IMHO), were that Mahima Choudary doesn’t play much of a role in the movie and talks and dresses like someone you will probablly not see as a economics lecturer in Lucknow University. Also, the movie focuses too much on how cellphones were tapped and gave vital information on the gangsters. It’s like…. in the middle of the movie you are wondering if this movie is actually about cellphones and how useful it is for the police to tap these phones.
It’s a good movie and definately worth a watch. I give it 7.5/10.
Hey… I am using Post2Blog 0.9.7 Beta to post this. I tried using Blogjet but for some weird reason, The posts were not displayed on the blog, but were there in the Db.
Hopefully this works well..
lol…. i know…. u might think what a jackass…. well… I have done it again. I have moved to Wordpress now. I had intially started out on Blogger and then used Grey Matter followed by WordPress. I didn’t like it then and hence I moved to MovableType. After sticking it out with MT for the last 3 months, I upgraded to their latest beta version and it started to give me a lot of problems. Other than the fact that MT is already so freaking slow, because of all the cgi being used, now I was getting errors while running these scripts.
Hence, I have decided to (and already) move to WordPress. Hopefully, I will stay interested long enough….
A Steven Speilberg movie based on a novel by Thomas Keneally. This movie got 7 oscars and is worth each one of them. It’s an old movie, and if u still haven’t seen it, I suggest you do so.
I loved the movie, though it is very sad. I give it 8/10.
A good comedy shot entirely in Australia. It stars Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan. Preity is looking as pretty as ever. The movie is about how the two of them meet and then decide to start having a live-in relationship as neither of them is ready for marriage. It starts out fine for them and then it all turns ugly when the actress gets pregnant
….
The movie has a good tempo on the whole and Javed Jaffery’s role, though overdone, is nonetheless very funny.
It’s a good movie to go for with friends and watch. I give it 6/10.
….. and I am using it now. I had to replace v1.5 beta with it as most of the extensions I like to use with firefox weren’t working with the beta version. Anyways, there are quite a few bugs fixed in this version. So go get your copy from http://getfirefox.com.
A nice movie that handles the subject of militancy in J&K in a rather balanced manner telling the story of all the parties involved; civilians, the army and the militants. Jimmy Shergil really does look like an army officer in the movie with that moustache that he is supporting. I guess this was a good role to take for him to get away from his chocolate boy image. The new actress has also given a good performance, though there is still scope.
The movie’s direction is good and photography amazing. The valley’s beauty has been brilliantly captured.
over all the movie is a nice way to pass-time. I give it 6/10.
