It’s been a long time I have written anything about the movies I have been watching… it’s one of the things I do to get by the boring weekends. Tonight being the Oscar night, I figured, I’ll make a short post listing some of the movies I watched in the past few months and what I thought of them. So here it goes…
The Number 23: A nice movie from Jim Carrey in a long time. I liked most of it, cause I think they ended up screwing the ending. 6/10
Eklavya: Nice movie, with good performances, but again the ending was quite loose and what I hate is seeing movies where we have happy ending and people don’t have to pay for their crimes. 6.5/10
Ghostrider: Stupid, dumb movie, directed like shit. I think after Dhoom 2, this was the first movie that I felt like getting up and walking out of. They could have made a much better movie out of the story they had. 4/10
Pan’s Labyrinth: It derserves all the 6 Oscar nominations. Even though the movie wasn’t in English, I loved watching it. I really loved the way the movie blends the real and the imaginary worlds together. It’s definitely worth a watch. 8.5/10
Gridiron Gang: The standard story of underdogs winning it all. It’s worth a watch if one doesn’t have anything better to do with his/her time. 6.5/10
Saw II: A colleague was raving about this movie and I think that is one of the reason’s I didn’t like it that much. It didn’t live up to the expectations. I had not watched it until sometime back because I thought that the movie will be full of gore, but I think it wasn’t that bad. A nice little twist in the end. 7/10
Smokin’ Aces: Decent action flick, full of mindless action. Not much of a story either. 6/10
Guru: Liked it. 7.5/10
Devil Wears Prada: Nice movie, kind of a girl flick… but I had nothing better to do with my time. 7/10
Borat: Hilarious… shocking… amazing… the dude rocks… 8/10
Stranger than fiction: Actually a strange but a nice story. And the kewl part is that all the time spent with the prof (Dustin Hoffman) is at my university, UIC
7/10
The Prestige: Nothing great… 6/10
Don: As is the case usually, this remake wasn’t half as good as the original. I think it made a lot of money only because of the actors and the fact that people usually want to see how good a job has been done in the remake. One thing that I like was the twist in the end… 6.5/10
Flags of Our Fathers: boring… 6.5/10
Casino Royale: I wish someone had told me that this movie was based on the first James Bond novel. I would have expected it to be different. All the time during the movie, I was wondering what the hell is wrong with this guy ? In retrospect, I think the movie wasn’t all that bad… 7/10
These are all the movies I remember watching… I will post my thought about others that I watch sometime later…
peace…
