eMail Time Capsule

Was just checking my Yahoo Mail and saw this link at the bottom of the welcome page. It seems that Yahoo has teamed up with Forbes and they are helping people create eMail Time Capsules. A really kewl idea…. You can send youself a message, which will be delivered to you 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 years from the date you send it.

I sent myself two messages to be delivered 1 year from now…

A word of caution…. An email is sent out to the email address that u give in the form. This email is for confirmation and it contains the actual text that was entered as the body of the to-be-sent-in-x-years mail. So DONT give someone elses email address…. This time capsule is only meant for you…. ;-)

Faking time on emails

I have done this a couple of times… ;-) … it’s not a nice thing but once in a while it is necessary. Well, I tried doing it again yesterday using Gmail, and to my shock it didnt work….

In other email systems, the machine’s clock is used to determine the sending time, where as in Gmail, the time is maintained on their servers and you can not send a back dated email…

so be careful next time you try this… :-)
