well wishing or making money ?
OK… just saw the following image on the HT site…
…and it made me wonder… what is it that these people will not do to make money ? This person (Pramod Mahajan) has been shot 3 times and after so many days is still in critical stage, and you put up an animated GIF on your site, attracting people’s attention to come and send SMSs to Pramod Mahajan. This is not an earthquake relief…. nor is it a case where someone will be benefited out of all the SMSing.
And… what is wrong with people that go ahead and actually send these SMSs… how personal are these wishes ?
Anyways… I guess the saving grace is the fact that there is also a link to a form where people can actually write message over the Internet… something non-profit.

HT makes 4 indians bat at the same time..
HT’s scoreboard for the 1st ODI between India and England on 28th March, at a point of time showed 4 indian cricketers batting at the same time. One was Pathan and the other three were Suresh Raina, Raina and S Raina. I guess they could decide what would be the best way to write his name. After sometime they brought down the number to 3 cricketers… couldn’t wait for it to be fully fixed cause it was late in the night. Found it funny, so here are the images.

My Haircut
After about 5 months, I finally got my hair cut today. It was sad seeing all that hair being cut off, but in a way I was happy as it was a big weight off my shoulders… umm.. head.. They were getting unmanageable; were growing in all directions and were breaking all the time and there were countless knots… Anyways, I am kinda happy that I don’t have to take care of such long hair again. I really don’t know how girls are able to manage such long hair.
I have put here a few pics of my hair. These were my hair while I was in Delhi.
Then my sister had the bright idea of straightening my hair and the result was
And, finally, this is me now… today… right this moment…
Just wanted to share it with all…
Dell 8600 problems
ok…. so this is the second time I had a problem with my laptop. Previously it was the adapter which stopped working because of the power cord, but that was replaced soon.
Lately, the laptop’s screen had been hanging after becoming grainy (pic1, pic2) . It all started after I updated the BIOS to version A14. I still havent been able to understand why the problem was happening. Even though the problem was there for a month or so (it happened about 10 times), I thought it would get fixed. So when, after updating the BIOS again, when the screen gave me problem, I called up Dell support. Luckily, it was on the last day of my warranty.
My laptop has now gone for repair and I have been told that the graphics card and the LCD screen will be replaced. I hope it all works out fine….
I am really missing my laptop….

Google Talk using GAIM
Posted by Nalin in Applications, Linux/Unix, WWW, Windows on August 23rd, 2005
It’s finally out… the much awaited and much speculated service by google is finally out… and out before time. I myself had been thinking sometime back that this was the next step that google had to take.
There was speculation that this service was going to be out tommorrow but the news can out today itself. They still dont have a client of their own and hence one needs to use other open source clients to run the Jabber protocol and come online on Google Talk.(When I posted this first, there was no announcement of a client for Google Talk. Google gave a link to download the software, for WinXP only, late Tuesday night.)
I used Gaim to connect to google talk. I have put up some images to show how to configure the gaim client to run for MSN, Yahoo and Google Talk.
Google Talk: Just select Jabber in the protocol and then make sure to change Server from jabber.org to gmail.com and to set the Connect Server as talk.google.com.
MSN: Nothing much here to do, except to make sure to add @hotmail.com after the Screen Name.
Yahoo: Here also, there isn’t much that has to be worried about. The difference between this and MSN is that here one doesn’t add the @yahoo.com at the end of the Screen Name.
